Comprehensive Guide to Dry Bulk Tank Trucks Usage, Precautions, and Advantages

Dry bulk tank truck, also known as a bulk cement truck, is a specialized vehicle used for transporting powdered materials such as bulk cement, fly ash, coal powder, talcum powder, flour, and more. Its usage differs significantly from that of ordinary cargo trucks, and there are many important considerations to be aware of.

Scope of Use for Dry Bulk Tank Trucks:

  1. The rated working pressure of a dry bulk tank truck is 0.2 MPa.
  2. The equivalent conveying distance is 40 meters, with a horizontal distance of 5–8 meters and a vertical height not exceeding 30 meters. Beyond this range, the unloading speed will gradually decrease.
  3. The particle diameter of the materials transported must not exceed 0.1 mm, and the moisture content must not exceed 2%.
  4. If the particle diameter is greater than 0.1 mm or the moisture content exceeds 2%, it must be clearly stated when purchasing the vehicle, as the manufacturer will need to design a custom solution.

Prohibited Practices in Using Dry Bulk Tank Trucks:

  1. Do not open the feed inlet when there is residual pressure inside the tank.
  2. Do not relieve pressure via the external air source valve.
  3. Do not run the air compressor beyond its rated duration:
    • A single-cylinder air compressor can run continuously for up to 1 hour.
    • A twin-cylinder air compressor can run continuously for up to 2 hours.
    • If unloading (blowing ash) cannot be completed within the rated time due to malfunctions or other issues, stop the compressor and allow it to cool for 20 minutes before restarting.

Advantages of Using Dry Bulk Tank Trucks:

  1. Improves production efficiency and enhances working conditions.
  2. No need for packaging materials, saving on packaging costs.
  3. Reduces cement loss and helps prevent environmental pollution.
  4. Maintains cement quality and extends storage life.

  1. David Dzidzikashvili says:

Dry bulk tanks require special care because they have a high center of gravity, and the load can shift. You have to be extremely cautious (slow and careful) going around curves and making sharp turns.
